Q: Why the Hotel Kabuki?

A: The Hotel Kabuki is a centrally located Rock & Roll Hotel recently bought and renovated by Chip Conley and Joie De Vivre Hotels. It is a favorite hotel for performers at the nearby legendary Fillmore Auditorium, the new classic Yoshi's San Francisco, and more. Joie De Vivre lives by their corporate mission statement, "Creating Opprotunities to Celebrate the Joy of Life". Plus, it was at the first Joie De Vivre Hotel The Phoenix that my wife and I met. Then we stayed at the Kabuki (at the time, the Miyako) for months when transitioning out of a flooded apartment. So when we heard that "Joie De Vivre" bought and fixed the place up, it seemed a natural for the conference to be held at such a comfortable hotel, a conference which celebrates the joy of music, and those who build technologies to help people better enjoy their music listening experience.

Q: Can you tell me a little about the Japantown area where the conference and the Hotel Kabuki can be found?

But suffice it to say that it is one of the 3 remaining Japantowns in the United States, located about a mile west of Union Square, and home to many Japanese restaurants, bars, stores, and a vibrant Pacific culture rarely found on this side of the Pacific.

Q. The Summit is on Monday, when should out-of-towners arrive in SF?

A. No later than your 3:00 hotel check-in on Sunday. Our first official event is a pre-show schmooze (location TBA) on Sunday night at 5pm, and folks tend to really enjoy meeting and reconnecting.
